Libby Morris

Assistant Ecologist

Libby is an assistant ecologist and has worked for the Ecology Co-op since April 2023. After almost fifteen years working in the creative industry, Libby followed her passion and re-trained in ecology specialising in the impacts of grazing management on chalk grassland across the South Downs. She has experience undertaking habitat surveys and classifying natural habitat types according to the National Vegetation Classification, as well as Preliminary Ecological Appraisal surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain habitat Condition Assessments, calculating Biodiversity Index Calculations and writing enhancement Strategies.

She is a FISC level 2 accredited botanist and has been undertaking bird surveys on behalf of local bird groups for over five years. She has been surveying harvest mouse populations along the river Adur for three years. Libby is an active member of the Sussex Ornithological Society, Sussex Botanical Society and is chairman of the Henfield Nature group. She is currently working towards her Barn Owl Licence. Outside of work, Libby freelances as a wildlife illustrator.
