About James

James Whitby

Consultant Ecologist

James joined the Ecology Co-op in April 2021. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Zoology from the University of Plymouth in 2016. Before joining the company, James had completed various work experience placements, but had spent the previous 4 years working in construction and spending his time traveling.

James is a qualifying member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and has experience in a wide range of ecological surveys and technical report writing. James has since completed his MSc in Land and Ecological Restoration through the apprenticeship scheme with Eden project Learning. James also holds a Level 1 Class Licence for Great Crested Newts, a Level 2 Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue certificate and has completed various training courses in botany. 

Outside of work, James enjoys wildlife photography, rugby, scuba diving and traveling.
